Essential Additions to Every Woman’s Wardrobe

Fashion seems to be on everyone’s mind whether they realize it or not. Most people have reached a point or two in their lives where they had a specific event to attend but had absolutely nothing appropriate to wear. From weddings and funerals to job interviews and semiformal gatherings, some occasions just don’t match what’s lurking in the closet. Experts insist certain basic items should be part of every woman’s arsenal.

Little Black Dress

For women, a little black dress is essential. It should be one that’s not too short or long, not cut shockingly low and not too frilly or frumpy. This basic wardrobe item can easily be a fallback for funerals and formals as well as nights on the town or just a nice dinner out. Though the perfect one might be a bit difficult to find, it’ll be well worth the hunt.

Black Blazer

This would be the more informal, business function-appropriate version of the little black dress. Black blazers meld well with a wide range of other attire, including khakis, skirts, jeans and dresses to name a few. Black also happens to match everything with the exception a more gray, blue or faded shade of black. Exceptions always exist, right?

Jeans

This could be considered a no-brainer, but those who prefer dresses, skirts and more sophisticated or business-like attire may not be inclined to include jeans in the typical mix. Dark, classic washes with fitted legs tend to be more versatile than some other styles and colors, but it couldn’t hurt to have a pair in several different shades in case of emergency.

Black Leggings

Leggings could be considered one of the most versatile wardrobe additions on the market. They’re neutral in so many ways. Leggings aren’t overly flashy or shamefully casual. Again, black ones match everything. They can provide a little extra coverage for particularly cold or windy days when worn under a dress or skirt. Somehow, they manage to take casual dresses up a notch and can even transform long sweaters into mini dresses.

These and certain other items should be standing ready in every woman’s closet just in case the need arises. You might say it’s better to have and not need than to need but not have.
